Married since 1977, Dr. Ed and Dr. Elena are dedicated naturopathic physicians focusing on holistic family practice. Beginning at the National College of Naturopathic Medicine, then at the Natural Childbirth and Family Clinic, at first they both were involved in delivering babies in out-of-hospital settings (home and birthing room). As their own family grew to four sons, Dr. Ed continued in obstetrics, diagnostic ultrasound and general family practice and pediatrics, while Dr. Elena tended the family and limited herself to a part-time daytime practice.

Since the boys are grown and flown, Dr. Elena has broadened her practice to include a general family practice with special emphasis on the metabolic and homeopathic treatment of developmental delay and learning disabilities. She still sees pediatric and general family practice cases as well. She is also enthusiastic about Bowen (Bowtech) therapy which gives such rapid and effective help to folks in physical pain.

Since 1975, Dr. Ed has developed an expertise in diagnostic ultrasounds receiving referrals from the holistic practitioners at the Natural Childbirth and Family Clinic and from community midwives and naturopaths. For the last 16 years he has been a registered diagnostic medical sonographer (RDMS) through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers. His ultrasound practice includes obstetric, pelvic and abdominal ultrasounds.

With the growth of his obstetrical practice, Dr. Ed saw more and more children and has developed an excellent reputation in naturopathic Pediatrics.

In response to the requests of many parents Dr. Ed began to present a monthly workshop on the risks and benefits of vaccination which is attended by parents sent mainly by local midwives and naturopaths.

Years of practice in pediatrics has also shown Dr. Ed that parents often have the need for parenting advice and classes. With that in mind he arranged to have the Aletha Solter Parenting Conference in Portland. Dr. Ed often recommends Dr. Solter’s book The Aware Baby and other books as well as Positive Dicipline by Jane Nelson. He is often consulted by parents when children are having behavior problems.

If the behavior problems seem to be metabolic, Dr. Elena is the person to consult, with her focus on homeopathy and her dedication to sorting out metabolic tangles which can cause learning disabilities, hyperactivity, obsessive compulsive disorder, bipolar disease, depression, anxiety and other psychiatric and metabolic problems. Dr. Elena uses natural medicines and nutrients to correct the imbalances that interfere with brain and body health in both children and adults.
